Manroland will be split into three separate businesses following an agreement Wednesday between the administrator overseeing the press vendor's insolvency and its creditors.
Under terms of the pact, German conglomerate L. Possehl & Co. will take over manroland's web offset business in Augsburg, according to Werner Schneider, the administrator. No financial details were disclosed.
Possehl is also interested in striking a supply agreement with manroland's Plauen site, which is responsible for services and specialty manufacturing, but will not own the plant, Schneider said.
The Offenbach site, which manufactures sheetfed presses, is not part of the deal. Instead, it will be purchased by management in association with an undisclosed investor.
According to multiple reports in the German press, the deals will eliminate more than half of manroland's 6,500 worldwide jobs.
U.S. venture capital firm Platinum Equity also bid for some of manroland's assets, but according to reports, its offer was rejected by creditors.
Manroland filed for insolvency in late November.
